Learn to develop and composite stylized sequential animatics from concept to completion, using both traditional and digital techniques in a 2D environment. The students will learn how to develop assets along the creative pipeline for animating in 2D and 3D on the computer. The final project will involve creating and editing elements for an animated 2D short, complete with character movement and interaction, special effects, and scenic backgrounds. The students will learn about the 12 Principles of Animation, mind-mapping a scene with style frames, and how to use animation rigs. The tools and theory learned can be applied to various aspects of the Visual Arts medium including television, film and the internet. This class develops a solid bridge between developing still art and creating complex animation.
